Interior, Space, and Cargo
Day-to-day cargo splits differently between these two. The Q5 puts 27.6 cubic feet behind the rear seats, a meaningful advantage over the XC60's 17.1 cubic feet. If you regularly load groceries, strollers, or athletic gear without folding seats, the Q5 wins that errand.
Fold everything flat and the XC60 flips the script, reaching 63.3 cubic feet versus the Q5's 56.9 cubic feet. The XC60 swallows longer, bulkier loads once those seats are down.
Inside, both cabins seat five adults, and both use quality materials throughout. The XC60 brings a more tactile Scandinavian restraint, with the Orrefors crystal gear shifter and a tailored dashboard reserved for Ultra trims making the cabin feel genuinely distinctive. Volvo also fits heated front and rear seats at every trim level, a comfort standard the Q5 does not match across its full lineup.
Legroom in the XC60 measures 41.5 inches in front and 38.0 inches in the rear, providing a generous environment for taller passengers on longer drives between Savannah and Charleston or Atlanta.
